Authentic Elegance

The interior, designed by Studio Piet Boon, revolves around a defining architectural element: the staircase. Wrapped in smooth plasterwork, the sculptural stairs connect each floor and serve as a subtle yet distinctive anchor within the home. Their soft, flowing forms bring calm to the vertical movement of the space, enhancing the authentic character of the historic property.

Serene Refinement

A tone-on-tone palette forms the foundation of the design, complemented by darker accents that introduce depth and tranquillity. Natural materials—including stone, wood veneer, and a custom-developed tint—create a minimalist yet warm environment. A poured floor in the hallway and wooden flooring throughout the remaining spaces ensure visual continuity. In the bathroom, Salvatori tiles add refined texture, while integrated lighting by Flos provides subtle, functional illumination across the entire interior.

Contemporary Comfort within a Historic Setting

Smart interventions bring spaciousness to smaller rooms without altering the home’s original layout. The existing kitchen was preserved, while the dining area received a contemporary touch: chairs with flexible, weighted back cushions that can rotate, allowing seating in any direction—always with a view of the idyllic canals. The home includes two bedrooms, a bathroom, two separate toilets, a dedicated workspace, and a generous living room, all designed in the same timeless language.

To complete the home’s architectural cohesion, the door and window hardware from the FORMANI INC collection introduces a subtle layer of sculptural clarity. Featuring the signature T-shape design in a PVD satin black finish, the INC series enhances the calm, modern aesthetic with its refined geometry and enduring surface quality, seamlessly integrating into Studio Piet Boon’s serene design language.
